Cook County Higher Education is presenting a workshop on Blogging for Business from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, at the North Shore Campus, 300 West Third Street, Grand Marais. Free individual consultations on business-related Internet topics and questions are available following the morning workshop.
Those who attended the Business Network Luncheon Oct. 26 with Susan May Warren were treated to an excellent overview of business blogging. On Nov. 9, Extension Educator John Bennett will provide an overview on blogging, then take the discussion a layer deeper into more technical aspects of creating and managing a business blog.
No previous exposure to blogging is necessary to benefit from Bennett’s threehour workshop. Participants will set up their own blogs, learn about effective ways to maintain a blog, effective strategies for generating traffic and a number of useful tips to help make using a blog easier. Participants will leave with a clear plan, the basic skills to get started and additional resources to help make them successful.
This workshop is designed for businesses, nonprofits and government agencies interested in using blogs to inform clients and prospective clients about products, services, features and attractions.
Fee for the workshop is $10. Participants should bring laptop computers if they have them. Internet access will be provided free of charge. Those who have ethernet/network cables may bring them as well. For more information and to register, please email highered@northshorecampus.org or call 387-3411 by Tuesday, Nov. 8.
In addition to the morning workshop on blogging, Bennett is available in the afternoon for individual one-hour consultations on any Internet-related business topic. Cook County business folk who have availed themselves of Bennett’s consultation services, provided free of charge, give enthusiastic feedback on the value of the sessions. To sign up for an individual session with Bennett, email highered@northshorecampus.org or call Higher Ed at (218) 387- 3411.
This workshop is part of a series of broadband training opportunities. It is funded in part by University of Minnesota Extension and by grants from the John S. & James L. Knight Foundation and the Lloyd K. Johnson Foundation.
