Cook County Extension and several members of the recent Blandin leadership training are partnering to do a comprehensive study entitled International Worker Program: Short & Long Term Impacts on the Economic and Social Fabric of Cook County.
Rick Anderson, Linda Kratt, Steve Surbaugh, Dave Tersteeg and Abby Tofte of the Blandin Leadership Group are working with Diane Booth, Cook County Extension, and Debbie Benedict, U of M Extension Committee member, on this project.
Brittany Edwards, a graduate research assistant from the University of Minnesota, will be facilitating this Community Assistant Program (CAP) grant. The CAP grant has been matched in-part by funding from the NE Sustainable Development Partnership, allowing a more in-depth view of the international worker program by including employers, international workers, local residents and visitors.
Community members, local businesses and international workers will be invited to participate in surveys, one-on-one confidential interviews, and focus groups to document information for the study. Data results will be shared with community and any other interested parties upon completion of the project with a target date of late fall 2014.
