Blaine Godin Fenstad





 

 

Blaine Godin Fenstad, 83, Little Marais, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017, at St. Luke’s Hospital.

Blaine was born May 10, 1934, to Ben and Agnes (Godin) Fenstad of Little Marais, Minnesota. He graduated from Two Harbors High School in 1952, and in 1958 graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Forestry.

From 1960 to 1961, Blaine worked as an assistant ranger on the Berglund District of the Ottawa National Forest in Berglund, Michigan. From 1962 to 1968 he worked as a U.S. Forest Ranger on the Kenton District of the Ottawa National Forest in Kenton, Michigan. In 1968 Blaine moved back to Little Marais to operate Fenstad’s Resort.

He was a member of the United Protestant Church in Silver Bay. He served many years on the Lake County Planning Commission and was a longtime member of the Little Marais Community Club. Blaine enjoyed fishing on Lake Superior, stream fishing for trout, and tree planting in the forest.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Blaine is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary; children Paula, David, Mark (Susanna) and Darrel; grandchildren Megan, Leah, and Zachary; sister Lorraine (Thomas) Stolee; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Memorial Service Thursday, October 5, at the United Protestant Church in Silver Bay. Memorials are preferred to the United Protestant Church and the Salvation Army. To sign the online guestbook, visit www.cavallinfuneralhome.com
