The annual Fisherman’s Picnic Big Fish Contest is complete and once again it took some huge fish to claim first place.
Josh Klemmer’s 33-pound lake trout is the biggest lake trout entered in years. Twin Cities school teacher Dan Roberts, who has a cabin here in the county, tied this year for first place in the Brook Trout category. It was Robert’s “umpteenth” win, but this time he shared it Jeremy Peterson.
Larry Deshampe, Grand Portage won first place with a 12-pound, 8-ounce northern. Larry’s nickname growing up was “Fish” so it’s little wonder that he lived up to that billing.
Once again Buck’s Hardware Hank and Northern Wilds sponsored the contest.
