A bicyclist collided with a vehicle at the busy post office intersection at about 10:33 a.m. on Saturday, August 20.
Sharon Hart, 64, Grand Marais was traveling east on Highway 61 in a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser, preparing to make a left turn onto 2nd Avenue to go to the Grand Marais Post Office.
Paula Vernica, 23, a visiting international worker, was traveling west on the bike path. As Hart turned, Vernica’s bicycle struck Hart’s vehicle on the right rear quarter panel.
Hart was not injured.
Vernica, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported by Cook County Ambulance to North Shore Health with minor injuries. She was released from the hospital the same day.
No citations were issued.
