Betty Otholene Cronberg





 

 

Betty Otholene Cronberg of Grand Marais ended her journey and went home to be with God on February 12, 2013 while being surrounded by her loving family.

Betty was born on November 22, 1934 to Otho and Nettie Mitchell (Richards) in Wayne City, IL. She worked in downtown Chicago, IL for many years as an executive secretary.

She married Bill Cronberg on October 1, 1954. They had five children.

Betty and Bill traveled to Grand Marais often and loved it so much they decided to make it their home. In 1964 in partnership with Guyal and Gladys Anderson, they bought the Beaver House and both families ran the store until 1976, at which time the partnership dissolved, and the Cronberg family continues to run the store today with their children and grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Otho Mitchell and Nettie and Roman Smith; and her daughter, Kimberly.

She is survived by her husband, Bill; her children Marty (Debbie) Cronberg, Bambi (Paul) Wika, Tyson (Mindy) Cronberg, Jennifer (Chad) Morawitz; grandsons Steve, Gunnar, Kody and Everett; granddaughters Melinda (Tom) Plante, Selien, Kaylee and Shae; sister Marlene (Chuck) Vittitow; sister-in-law Darlene Potempa; brother-in-law Harry (Bernadette) Cronberg; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and many friends.

Every heart Betty touched she enlightened with love. Betty will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
