Bethlehem Lutheran Church will again host its annual Harvest Dinner from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, September 28 in its Fellowship Hall. This meal, homemade by the women of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, is a fundraiser to support local, regional and worldwide missions.
The decades-long traditional menu will include fish cakes, baked bone-in ham, parsley buttered red potatoes, coleslaw, fresh garden carrots, home-canned pickled beets, dill pickles, and homemade Swedish rye bread. A delicious apple dessert made from the bounty of Cook County apple trees will round off this wonderful meal that is created and served with love.
In addition to the fabulous meal and fellowship, unique quilts handmade by the Bethlehem Quilters will be offered for sale. Every Thursday morning a dedicated crew of women gather at church to create warm and colorful quilts, donating dozens to the Red Cross, Damiano Center in Duluth, Lutheran World Relief and other organizations helping people in need.
We are fortunate that the quilters have held out a few to offer to the community at this event. Anyone— with or without quilting or sewing experience—is invited to join this fun group on Thursday mornings. They will find a job for all, and the coffee pot is always on!
Dinner prices are $12 for adults; children 6-10 years of age are $5; children under 5 eat free. Call Laura at the church office (218-387-2227) Monday-Thursday for more information or to request a meal to go.
