Jessica Berg-Collman, 13, of Grand Marais has found success in recent log rolling competitions.

In the Namekagon River Roll-Off in Hayward, Wisconsin on July 19, 2009, Jessica finished a very respectable sixth place. Jessica was in close contention for third or fourth place, but ended up finishing in sixth place out of 12 girls in her division. This was her first major tournament.

She returned to Hayward the next weekend to compete in the Lumberjack World Championships, where she was a medal winner in the Lumberjack World Championships. Jessica advanced to the finals, which included eight of the 14 girls competing in her division. She fought hard, spinning and winning three of five matches, eventually earning a medal for third place.
