Benjamin (Ben) Seaton has been chosen to receive the new Arrowhead Eagles Scholarship, the first scholarship offered by the Arrowhead Eagles Aviation Organization.
Ben’s application was one of five received by the Eagles board.
As a long time member of Cook County, Ben has been active in the Cook County Search and Rescue program and was an inaugural member of the advanced Search and Rescue Strike Team.
He is a former member of the Grand Marais Fire Department and is currently a member of the Gunflint Fire Department.
Ben’s interest in aviation began in eighth grade and continued through high school spending much of his time outdoors flying and crashing model airplanes he built. He plans to use the scholarship to support his flight training as a stepping-stone towards entry into the military and serving his country.
“We’re very pleased to assist Ben in this manner and know that he will be successful in reaching his goals in aviation,” said Mike Raymond, Arrowhead Eagles President.
As for Ben, upon receiving the award, he humbly said, “I would like to extend my most sincere thanks to the Eagles board. I hope to one day pay this forward and have every intention of doing so.”
The $2,000 grant is the first to be awarded by the Arrowhead Eagles. Future scholarship awards will be given based upon funding support. The annual fly-in pancake breakfast, the primary funding event, was postponed due to concerns over COVID-19. Donations can be sent to Arrowhead Eagles Aviation Association, 123 Airport Road, Grand Marais, MN 55604.
