The residents of North Shore Health Care Center are staying warm and will be enjoying a full month of activities to beat cabin fever. We have a lot of fun and excitement planned for this month along with some new events on the calendar.
Everyone will be encouraged to wear red on Friday, Feb. 3 to support Heart Health Awareness Month.
The monthly birthday party will be held Feb. 8 at 3 p.m. to honor Geneva Hargis and Rolf Skrien who share a birthday on Feb. 18. Eleanor Waha will once again provide her delicious birthday cake, and Doug Sanders will play some of our favorite piano tunes.
Pastor Daren Blanck and friends will be coming Feb. 13 to host an old-time gospel sing-a-long, and the Sivertones will be playing love songs for us on Valentine’s Day. Other live music in February will feature Myron Bursheim on Sundays, Al Fuller on Mondays, and Susan Scherer on Wednesdays. We are truly grateful for the music our volunteers share with us to lift our spirits during the long winter months.
There will be some crafting fun, a Valentine Dinner Theatre, a Valentine’s Day Happy Hour, and a Valentine Bingo in celebration of Valentine’s Day.
We are hoping for a nice day on Feb. 16 when we have an outing to the Senior Center for lunch and visiting with all our friends there.
The Grand Marais Lioness Club will host their monthly social for residents on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 3 p.m. with delicious treats for everyone. Irene Thompson will also be here to provide some wonderful piano tunes for all to enjoy.
On Feb. 25, we look forward to having John Franz share his artistic talents with us. John will be bringing his paints and canvas to the Care Center to do a painting demonstration for the residents.
This month we would like to send out a special invitation to any youth groups or families with young children to come and participate in activities with the elders here at the Care Center. There are a variety of fun ways to share time together such as bingo, playing games, coloring, reading, singing or playing an instrument, or joining in on our exercise group. This intergenerational interaction can be beneficial to both the residents and youth, and we always have a lot of fun and laughter!
