Barbara Jean (Hart) Hatanpaa, 83, passed from this life on March 6th, 2023, at The Waterview Shores in Two Harbors, Minnesota.
She was born on January 3rd, 1940, to Bert & Kathryn (Hagemeister) Hart in Minneapolis.
Barbara was raised on her parent’s farm near Grand Marais, Minnesota and attended Cook County High School until her marriage to Jacob V Hatanpaa on January 4th, 1958. To this union were born eight children.
“Gramma Barb” lived most of her life in Schroeder, where she became known for her good cooking, fresh-baked bread and warm hospitality.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Bert & Kathryn; her brother, Raymond; her daughters-in-law Brenda and Kathy, and her oldest daughter Rose Marie Giddings. She is survived by her spouse and her remaining children: Raymond Hatanpaa, son-in-law Michael Giddings, Richard Hatanpaa, Edward (Tina) Hatanpaa, Jeanne (Jeremy) Conaway, Sarah (Robert) Smith, Esther (Willard Jr) Hedquist, Abraham (Salina) Hatanpaa, twenty-seven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Barbara’s burial was at Oneota Cemetery, Duluth, Minnesota.
