Sarah Bankson, a senior at Fairmont Area High School, has once again broken state records, becoming the first student in history to earn a gold medal four consecutive years at the Minnesota State Speech Tournament.
Sarah is the daughter of Cindy and Dan Bankson of Fairmont, Minn., and the granddaughter of Chuck and Ruth Tice of Grand Marais.
Bankson won gold this year with an informative speech about tears, a topic she stumbled upon while reading a magazine. She said she found the topic interesting, and that is the key to her success.
Bankson is planning to attend North Park University in Chicago next year, and while some colleges do have forensics teams, she plans to stay focused on her studies in communications.
