A comprehensive jobs package with the potential to create up to 20,000 new jobs in Minnesota and encourage investment and jobs in start-up companies, historic building renovations, and an expanded Mall of America, passed the House and Senate on March 29, said state Sen. Tom Bakk, DFL-Cook, Senate Tax chair and chief author and architect of the legislation.
The legislation allows Minnesota to compete with 29 other states that have similar investor-type credits, including Wisconsin, Iowa, and North Dakota, by offering tax credits to help attract new jobs and business to Minnesota.
“Thisis a great bill that will put people back to work while making sound business and economic-development investments without raising taxes,” Bakk said. “The bill passed on Monday focuses on real policies that have the proven ability to create new jobs and put average Minnesotans back to work.”
