Saint Paul Artist Bailey (Aaland) Rae will have ten new pieces of her stained-glass mosaics showing at the Tettegouche State Park Visitor’s Center. A reception will be open to the public at Tettegouche Visitor’s Center on Friday, June 3.
Bailey, who has a cabin off the Gunflint Trail, has works featuring Artist Point, Split Rock Lighthouse, and all things related to the North Shore for her newest exhibit.
Her show is titled “Are We There Yet.”
“I’m sort of obsessive about time and the moments in life that we dub as ‘waiting’ for the next thing to happen when in reality, now is what we have for certain, so we should make it what we want it to be—like taking a trip up to my cabin. Driving in the car is something I’ve never been a huge fan of, but I’m trying to look at it as a moment in time that I should actively participate in. It might not always feel that way, but it’s something I strive for.”
Starting as a teenager using broken pieces of glass to create art, Bailey began working as a mosaic artist in 2007. In 2012 she graduated from Luther College with a B.A. in Art and a concentration in Video Production. In her free time, she takes pictures of her cat, Oslo, quotes 30 Rock, rides bike, and kicks back in her Gunflint Trail cabin.
