“Back to School Orientation” at School District 166 August 29





School District 166 has six new teachers this year. The News-Herald caught up with three of them last week as they were setting up classrooms. “Back to School Orientation” for all students and parents of School District 166 will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2:30 – 4:05 p.m. Cook County Schools Principal Gwen Carman said, “All are strongly encouraged to attend!”

School maps with classroom/teacher locations will be available. There will be a table with school bus route information and various community organizations will have informational tables. Pre-kindergarten through 5th grade parents and students will meet in classrooms, talk with their teacher and learn about the upcoming school year.

Middle School and High School students and parents will follow the student’s 7-period schedule (10-minute classes), to meet teachers and learn about the year’s curriculum and expectations.

At 4:30 p.m. on August 29, in the Middle School/High School Technology Plaza, Principal Carman will provide K-12 parents an overview of the school website, parent portal information, technology use permissions and more.

The PK-12 Office (at the main entrance or Eagle doors) is now open Monday – Thursday, 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
