Applications are now available for a $2,500 aviation scholarship to be awarded in 2023 by the Arrowhead Eagles Aviation Organization. The scholarship is open to anyone that aspires to a career in the aviation industry, including flight training leading to a private pilot’s license, or advanced rating. The scholarship is made possible by funds raised through the annual Eagles Fly-In/Drive-in Breakfast and private donations. The winner will be announced at the Eagles annual meeting, Saturday, May 13, 2023.
Applicants must be 15 years or older and be enrolled within a year of acceptance of the scholarship into an aviation training program with a Certified Flight Instructor or with an accredited aviation curriculum. The scholarship is limited to Minnesota Cook County or Lake County residents. Prior applicants are encouraged to reapply. Application forms are available at the Cook County airport, 123 Airport Road, and Cook County Schools. The final deadline for submitting the application is May 2nd.
In addition to pilot training, aviation careers include maintenance technicians, airport management, airline scheduler/dispatcher, aviation sales, FAA air traffic controllers, airport operations, Unmanned Aircraft Systems pilots and technicians, and aeronautical engineers.
The Arrowhead Eagles Aviation Organization (AEAO) is comprised of individuals interested in supporting local aviation, aircraft owners and pilots. AEAO is a 501(c) (3) charitable organization. Our mission is to support Cook County’s airport and aviation tradition through promoting aviation events, airport enhancements, youth-oriented activities and opportunities, and to encourage community use and a friendly atmosphere at the Grand Marais/Cook County airport.
