Autopsy confirms skier’s death was due to natural causes

On Saturday, February 23, 2013, Thomas Paul Schuster, 53, was found “unresponsive” on a Gunflint Trail cross country ski trail. Sheriff Deputies and the Gunflint Trail Ambulance responded and the skier was transported to North Shore Hospital, but Schuster was deceased.

No foul play was suspected. The autopsy conducted by Pathologist Thomas P. Uncini, M.D. and released on March 8, 2013 confirms that Schuster died of natural causes. He suffered a heart attack due to a blockage.
