Imagine my surprise when I went horseback riding on Sunday, October 25, 2015, on the south border where the power line crosses our property on County Road 14. There were ATV/ 4-wheeler tracks along the whole south boundary. Our property has been posted “No Trespassing” from both ends where the power line runs through the property for many years, however, there seems to be some folks that consider this their property also and take no heed to the signs.
There is no “right-of-way” through the power line and we do not allow ATVs and 4-wheelers or snowmobiles to go through the property. You have left tracks that will only get worse. The ground is soft and muddy and the tracks created by the inconsiderate ATVers along our southern property line will only lead to others wanting to use that access to where ever it is you go.
If you want to access hunting grounds or whatever, please consider going through another access just south about a quarter mile from our property.
If you want us to honor the use of ATVs, this is not the way to do it. It’s folks like you that give this sport a bad name. Is this what you want? Have you ever considered leaving us a note as to where you live so I can access your property whenever I feel like it?
If you want to preserve your right to use your ATVs, please follow the rules and be considerate of others.
I must add, however, without exceptions: every time I have met ATVers on the trails they have been extremely courteous to us. They give us room to ride by, most always even turning off their engines. These are the people who give the sport a good name. I hope a few don’t spoil it for the good guys!
