Ashley Deschampe needs your vote so that she can compete at the High School National Championship 3-point shoot-out that will be held March 30 in New Orleans at the NCAA Final Four play-offs.

To date, Cook County High School senior guard Ashley Deschampe leads 16 girls in an online Facebook contest to see who will advance to compete in the National Girls’ High School 3-point championship shootout.

The contest will take place in New Orleans during the March 30 NCAA Final Four weekend.

At press time, after a few days of voting, Ashley led with 97 percent. Second and third place are close with 89 and 86 percent of the votes.

Deschampe was chosen to compete for a spot after she was invited to submit a video of her shooting 3-point shots. Her video was then selected as one of the top 16 entered. She is the only Minnesota girl and the only girl in the upper Midwest in the competition.

Each week the top vote getter moves on until ultimately eight girls get to compete for a spot in the 2012 American Family Insurance High School Slam Dunk and 3-point championships. The event will be televised on CBS on April 1 at 4:30 p.m.

To keep the CCHS all-time scoring leader’s hopes alive, go to apps.facebook.com/ highschool_ slam/ and when you see the three brackets, click on “Women’s 3-Point.” Look for Ashley’s video on the right side about half way down. If you aren’t logged into Facebook you will be asked to do so. If you are a Facebook client then you can vote for Ashley once each day. It takes less than a minute, so get to it and let’s watch her on TV on April 1!
