Inspired by the WTIP community radio series Living on the
Edge,
which highlighted the difficulties of earning a living on the North Shore, individual members of the Chateau LeVeaux Home Owner Association decided to make donations to the Cook County Health and Human Service Emergency Fund. Presenting the check was Nancy Grabko, a member of the homeowner association. Grabko said, “As members of a home owners association in this most beautiful part of the state, we believe we all have a shared responsibility to help support those who are struggling, whether it be to this emergency fund or to the Salvation Army or Food Shelf, etc.” Accepting the check is Health & Human Services Director Sue Futterer (center), who said the donation of $430 would go toward a wish list of items for social services clients. With them is Barbara Jean Johnson of WTIP, whose series sparked the idea for the donation.
