The Grand Marais Art Colony is offering Studio Painting: Water as Metaphor on January 19-21, with a two- or three-day option. Karen Owsley Nease will teach the class.
Come into the studio this winter with your favorite images and ideas and, with Karen’s guidance, discover how to use visual metaphors in your work. Specifically, students will explore how water is used as a metaphor by the masters to symbolize drama, emotions, serenity, and power.
Through quick exercises and discussions, students will study their artistic intention and techniques. Lessons will apply to all subject matter, styles, genres, and paint media.
