Art Colony expands programming— adds staff

The Grand Marais Art Colony just announced they will be hiring a part-time, year-round position to work Sundays – Tuesdays.

“It is very exciting,” said Amy Demmer, executive director of the Art Colony. “Our programming has grown significantly and having another person on staff will allow us to better serve our community.”

This position will serve a variety of duties from office support to program development and volunteer coordination. Applications are due on February 27 and the position begins early April.

The Art Colony has experienced tremendous growth in the last couple of years. Classes have grown from 44 in 2008 to 112 in 2012. Over that same time period, they have added new events such as the Winter Arts Festival and the Spring Theme Exhibit and overhauled previous events such as the Grand Marais Arts Festival. This year, they are also adding the Northern Fibers Retreat—cohosted with North House Folk School and the Northwoods Fiber Guild—and an artist-in-residence program.

For more information about the position, contact Amy Demmer at the Grand Marais Art Colony at 218-387-2737 or arts@boreal.org.
