Arrowhead Electric Cooperative, Inc., the electricity provider for most of Cook County, held its annual meeting on Saturday, June 13 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Grand Marais.
After a hearty pancake breakfast, the annual meeting began with a presentation by Mark Glaess, manager of the Minnesota Rural Electric Association, who spoke about the cost of climate change and legislation regarding the energy industry.
Election results were then provided, with all of the incumbent board members retaining their seats. Continuing to serve in District 2 is Lou Terrizzi; in District 4, Wayne Anderson; and District 5, Howard Abrahamson. Thecooperative expressed appreciation to the members who agreed to run for the board, Bill Hennessy, Heidi Doo-Kirk, and Mark Delamater.
A highlight of the cooperative’s annual meeting is the distribution of Operation Round Up funds to local organizations. Customer Service Representative Georgene Daubanton explained that member participation in the program is 86%. Participants agree to have their electric bills “rounded up” for a good cause. Daubanton said, “A big thank you to members of Arrowhead Electric for your donations and generosity!”
