Jordan Ekroot and Vaughn Swindlehurst recently received scholarships from the Arrowhead Eagles Aviation Organization.
Vaughn received a $2,500 award that he’ll apply towards his goal of earning a private pilot certificate, in his quest to become a commercial pilot.
A second Scholarship award was presented to Jordan Ekroot as a “continuation grant” to help Jordan get his transitional fixed-wing rating. Jordan is a licensed helicopter pilot and is working towards his commercial fixed-wing certificate.
The Arrowhead Eagles is a local non-profit 501(c) (3) organization with a mission to support Cook County Minnesota’s airport and aviation tradition through promoting aviation events, airport enhancements, youth-oriented activities and opportunities, and to encourage community use and a friendly atmosphere at the Cook County/Grand Marais airport. This is the third year the organization has offered scholarships to local residents. Funds are raised through donations, endowments and the annual fly-in/drive-in pancake breakfast.
