Arrowhead Electric Cooperative, Inc. is working to record all of the electrical facilities in its service territory using Geographical Information System (GIS) technology. On Monday, October 5, contractors with Osmose Utility Services began working on the project, starting in the Pike Lake – Lutsen area. They will proceed to the Maple Hill area and then on to Devil Track Lake and up the GunflintTrail. Thegoal is to complete the GIS recording in six weeks.
Director of Member Services Joe Buttweiler said homeowners might see contractors in trucks and/or fourwheelers with Osmose Utility Services or Arrowhead Electric markings or on foot wearing fluorescent vests, hard hats and other personal protective equipment. “If you see these contractors on your property they will only be there for a minute or two while they do their work,” said Buttweiler.
Buttweiler said the project would span a few months to allow Arrowhead to “capture all of our facilities.”
