Arrowhead Animal Rescue (AAR) has held a number of events to raise funds for its work to care for lost and abandoned cats, dogs and other domestic pets in Cook County. Arrowhead Animal Rescue (AAR) recently announced that it now has a website. The site, with an adorable kitten and puppy front and center, is a self-declared “work in progress.” Much like the fledging animal rescue organization itself. However, the new website is a good resource for those hoping to join the efforts of the group that is working to see that all animals in Cook County are cared for.
AAR was founded in April 2011 and has an eight-member board. The organization is not to be confused with Animal Advocates, a previous group that operated from 2003 until it was dissolved in 2010.
The new group has accomplished a lot in its relatively short history. The new website www.arrowheadanimalrescue.org has three archived newsletters and some “success stories” to share.
The group hosted a mini-golf tournament at Grand Marais Golf ‘n Stuff in May 2012. AAR Board Member Karen Flolid said the organization was extremely grateful to Grand Marais Golf ‘n Stuff owner Tom Crosby, who came up with the idea for a mini-golf benefit for animals.
At press time, Arrowhead Animal Rescue was planning another fundraiser. The community is encouraged to stop by the Grand Marais Senior Center on Saturday, July 21 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. to check out a “Household Sale and Bake Sale.”
AAR Treasurer Bev Green said, “There will be household items—for the kitchen, books, home décor, animal items, and jewelry—something for everyone!”
There will even be something for Cook County’s furry friends. AAR will have its doggy bandanas on sale as well.
“Come out and support us as we move into our second year of helping the animals in Cook County,” said Green.
