Viking Junior Guard Ariana Poyirier was named to the All-Conference second team by area coaches who select the Polar Big School All Conference players.
Unfortunately, in light of the COVID-19 concerns, the all-star game was cancelled this year. That game gives players like Ariana a chance to play against other good competition in front of college coaches who come to scout for players.
A dynamic ball handler, deft passer, and fleet of foot, Ariana averaged 10.2 points in 16 games. According to the Minnesota Sports Hub girls’ basketball statistics, Ariana and Junior Center Paisley Smith led the Vikings with 16 starts.
Ariana led the team in scoring with 163 points, four more points than senior guard Abbie Crawford scored, although Crawford played in two fewer games. Ariania’s high game was 21 points. There were no statistics for rebounds, steals or assists, but Ariana, also a strong defensive player, had to be at the top or near the top of each of those categories for the Vikings.
The Vikings ended up sixth in the Polar Big Conference with a record of nine wins and 11 losses.
