Christmas services will be different this year. The
worship services will continue, albeit with a
pandemic twist.
Area pastors have had to be creative with their
services. While many of the usual traditions will
be on hold or performed differently, the spirit of
Christmas will continue with the celebration of the
birth of Jesus remaining the focus of the day. The
following churches provided their holiday schedules.

BETHLEHEM LUTHERAN CHURCH:
Christmas Eve, we will post our online Lessons and
Carols on our website. We will also have brief
gatherings with lessons and candlelight around a
bonfire in the church yard at 3:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
CORNERSTONE COMMUNITY CHURCH:
Fourth Sunday of Advent: Sunday, December 20 at
10:30 a.m.
Cornerstone is meeting both onsite and online on
Sunday, December 20, at 10:30 a.m.

Pastor Dale will likely post a Christmas Eve message on
those same sites. We will not be meeting onsite for
Christmas Eve.
We have no plans in place at this time for meeting
onsite in connection with New Year’s, though we
will continue meeting onsite on Sunday mornings
as long as COVID-19 reduction measures prove
adequate.

devotional this year. Digital and a new video edition
(where Cornerstone members have been recorded
reading the daily selections) are available at https://

respectively. Paper copies of the devotional are
available at the church anytime someone is in the

FIRST CONGREGATIONAL
UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST:
First Congregational UCC of Grand Marais will have its
Christmas Eve Service at 5:00 p.m., December 24.
This will be streamed live on Facebook and the video
will be available on our website. Weather permitting,
this service will be held in our parking lot around a
bonfire.
GRAND MARAIS EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH:
All services are online at grandmaraisfree.com
Fourth Sunday of Advent, December 20 at 10:30 a.m.
Christmas Eve Service, December 24 at 4:00 p.m.
No services on Christmas Day.
HOLY ROSARY CHURCH, GRAND PORTAGE:
Friday, December 25: Christmas Day mass at 11:30 a.m.
You will not have to sign up to attend mass at Holy
Rosary.
LIFE IN CHRIST LUTHERAN CHURCH:
Thursday, December 24, Christmas Eve service will be
held at 6:30 p.m.
Friday, December 25, Christmas Day service will be
held at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. at Heston’s Lodge on
Gunflint Lake.
LUTSEN EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH:
We invite you to grab a cup of cocoa and a cookie or
two and join us online at lutsenchurch.org anytime
on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day on your laptop,
tablet, or phone for our Service of Lessons and
Carols. We’ll share the Christmas story amid some
of our favorite carols, along with prayers and a
message from Pastor Tom.
MOUNT ROSE COMMUNITY CHURCH:
Pastor Jacob McCormick says, “Well, I’m not entirely
sure what it will look like. But most likely a Facebook
live Christmas Eve service online at 4:30 p.m. Check
our Facebook page for details.

EPISCOPAL CHURCH:

ZOAR LUTHERAN CHURCH:
Christmas Eve services will be at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m.
The 4:30 service will be live-streamed on Facebook
and posted on Youtube by 7 p.m. Both will be
broadcast to the parking lot. In-person in-door
seating with masks and distancing will be limited.
