Our founders, who acknowledged the need and guidance of almighty God, created a government form that has been the envy of the world and provided a standard of freedom and life never before known to mankind.
It was a government that had balanced powers and was designed to respond and be a servant of the people it served.
The main responsibility of its people was to utilize an election system that was balanced by a majority based on population and geographic representation. Then there is our obligation TO ACCEPT AND SUPPORT the outcome of that vote whether or not we liked the result, knowing that all election results have a temporary span.
Today we see a degree of disrespect, seemingly a desire for failure, of elected officials. We see friendships and a grouping of society based on political choice among some of our citizens. We see consideration for new forms of government that have a bloody and horrible history.
I do not know of ONE person who, I believe, desires a bad government for his fellow Americans, yet we can, sometimes, almost demonize those with whom we disagree. Perhaps we should reason that we might want the same destination but have a different way of getting there.
I believe our country’s very future depends on following the plans put in place by our founders and that requires acceptance of the need to disagree agreeably, knowing we can work to change leadership by our voting process.
As a matter of disclosure, I am 87 years old and politically conservative. Although, I continue to vote for and give financial support to candidates of both major political parties.
