Are smart meters safe?

As I see it

Smart meters are coming to Grand Marais and you are not supposed to know about that. Say goodbye to your safe, reliable analog electric meter with the spinning disc. The utility uses something called implied consent. If you don’t send in a denial of consent notice, you get the smart meter – which they refer to as a necessary upgrade (which it’s not).

Admittedly, self-reading meters make sense in rural areas.

Smart meters are two-way tracking and transmitting devices, which are hackable (think about that) and emit another layer of RF-EMF wireless radiation in addition to that from Wi-Fi and cell phones. But you can’t turn the meter off or minimize its use.

Most people assume that the wireless radiation from their smart meter is harmless. I would encourage anyone with doubts to take a closer look. Depending on proximity and how often they pulse or transmit, smart meters can affect your health. The long term health effects are still unknown, although it’s not looking good as the latest peer-reviewed studies keep coming in showing mitochondrial cell damage.

The science can be found at emfsafetynetwork.org. The World Health Organization has designated RF wireless as a Group 2B possible carcinogen along with lead and DDT. Industry officials assure us that all is well. Really?

PG&E of California was forced to admit by court order that their smart meters pulse over 10,000 times a day. Customers had been told six times. The smart meter agenda is rapidly unfolding worldwide, along with a growing pushback against it as people wake up.

For example, New Mexico recently banned the meters in urban areas, in part because they didn’t deliver the promised energy efficiency or savings. They are not green but we’re told they are. Utilities like them because selling private data collected by them is a multi-billion-dollar business. They can also monitor your daily habits and know when you are not home.

Our trusty analog meter is on our daughter’s bedroom wall. You should locate your electric meter since you will be getting a smart meter unless you refuse consent in writing. If you live in an apartment, avoid the units closest to the bank of smart meters, especially if you have children.

Smart meters could have been designed to simply transmit a signal once a month to a passing vehicle for billing purposes, but they were not. As I understand it, the master plan is to plug every human on earth into the smart grid so it will be easier for central planners with big ideas to micromanage our lives.

These creepy devices provide no benefit for the environment or consumers and should not be covertly installed on our homes without our informed consent and full disclosure beforehand.
