Ardyce Audrey (Bednarek) Dalbec, 71, of Duluth, and formerly of Grand Marais, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at the Solvay Hospice House with her loving family by her side.
Ardie was born to Paul and Florence Bednarek in 1942 and was the sixth of seven children, growing up in Little Falls, Minn. Ardie and Jim Dalbec were united in matrimony on May 10, 1964 and together had two daughters – Debra (Deb) and Sherry.
Ardie enjoyed gardening, painting, traveling and volunteering. She treasured her volunteerism at the Solvay Hospice House and the company of cherished friends and family, especially her grandchildren.
Ardie is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Dalbec; her parents Paul and Florence Bednarek; and three siblings—Marlene Bednarek Walz, Edward Bednarek and Lyle Bednarek.
Ardie is survived by her daughters, Debra (Tom) Schmelz and Sherry (Phillip) Jaffe of Minneapolis; her grandchildren Maria and Eliana Schmelz, Ava and Alana Jaffe; three siblings Joyce Bednarek Hoffman, Shirley Bednarek Stichter, and Harold Bednarek; and loving companion of 12 years, William (Bill) Elstad.

Visitation and Funeral Services were held on Friday, January 3, 2014 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. A spring/summer memorial service will also be held in Grand Marais.
