Ardis Johnson, loving wife, mother, and friend passed peacefully on August 16, 2017, at the age of 88 in her home in Port Orange, Florida.
Ardis was born in Duluth, Minnesota; and raised on the beautiful North Shore in Grand Marais. In May 1947, she married James Johnson and spent the next 35 years raising six children and moving many times as an airline family.
Jim and Ardy finally settled in in Florida in 1980 with 27 years in Titusville and ten years in Port Orange, Florida. Florida was home, but summers were spent in Minnesota enjoying the beautiful scenery, family, and weather.
Ardis loved to sing and belonged to church choirs in every place they lived. She loved to sew, knit and crochet and always beautifully decorated every home they lived in.
As a Charismatic Christian, she especially committed to healing ministries and brought peace and comfort to family and friends.
Ardis is survived by her children Susan MacKenzie, Greg Johnson, Mary Beth Rainka, Alan Johnson, Bruce Johnson; siblings Joyce Krueger and Roger Nelsen; 14 grandchildren and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim and son Brian.
Ardy loved people and parties. She reveled in being the Welcoming Committee wherever she went and will be sorely missed by all who knew her. “Some people come into our lives and quickly leave. Others stay for awhile, leaving giant footprints on our hearts… And we are never the same again.”
The family has asked that instead of flowers a donation is made in Ardis Johnson’s name to Zoar Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 2098, Tofte, Mn., 55615 or March of Dimes, Tallahassee in memory of Ardis Johnson.
