Anthony “Shooter” Scalise


 

 

Anthony “Shooter” Scalise (Knill) left his physical form on Saturday, July 1st and began making his way to the Spirit World. He was born April 25, 1964. He grew up in Duluth, Minnesota and graduated from Duluth East High School. He moved to the twin cities shortly after graduation and began his drywalling career. He moved to Grand Portage in 2002 to raise his family. Tony loved spending time outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a very talented man who enjoyed making traditional native crafts, dream catchers, pipe carving, and powwow regalia. He loved music and dancing. He raised a daughter and step-son and tragically lost an infant son at birth. People gravitated to him, and he was like a father to many. His oldest daughter found him just three years ago and he was a grandfather to two beloved granddaughters.

Anthony was preceded in death by son, Anthony Mason Scalise. Maternal grandparents, Laura Morrison and Bernard Morrison, paternal grandparents Emma Bauer and Carmen Scalise and fathers Ronald Scalise and Dennis Knill, Uncle, Dennis Morrison and beloved dogs Vinny and Sophia.

He is survived by his mother, Susann (Morrison) Knill, daughters, Jasmine Coatie (Jaden Aubid) and Samantha Scalise (Michael Costello), step-son Jeremy Poitra and their mother Bonita Poitra, granddaughters Hailey and Alice Brady, brother Delon (Katie) Knill, sister Nicol Rousseau, Goddaughter and niece Stephanie Record and Godson Chace Gengler, nephews Ryan (Jen) Lundberg, Michael Lund-Knill, Kellen Knill, Jesse Loop, niece Ashlie Knill and many other cousins and special friends.

The family will be doing a private burial at a later date to lay him to rest in Mount Rose Cemetery with his son.
