A fundraiser for the Gunflint Trail Volunteer Fire Department will be held Saturday, Aug. 18 at Fire Hall 1, 28 miles up the Trail, from 1 to 4 p.m. A flea market, boutique and serving of cake, coffee and lemonade will start at 1 p.m.

The live auction will start at 1:30 p.m. with the winning raffle ticket for the quilt being pulled after that. The quilt is queensize and features animals and elements of our woods. It is hand-quilted.

Tickets may be purchased ahead of time at The Loon’s Nest at mid-Trail or Crystal’s Quilt Shop in Grand Marais. Tickets will also be available at the event. A few of the auction items are: handmade tables, wood-turned cake stand, set of Christmas cabin dishes, antique nail kegs, pottery, fused glass and quilted and knit items. Mid-Trail resorts have been generous also offering gift certificates, etc.

All proceeds go to the Gunflint Trail Volunteer Fire Department which now covers a wider area including Greenwood Lake, East Twin Lake and West Twin Lake.
