Many nonprofit organizations throughout the state are once again asking Minnesotans to take part in a massive Internet charitable campaign known as “Give to the Max Day.” On November 16, anyone can log on to www.GiveMN.org to donate to his or her favorite nonprofit organization.
There are a number of reasons to donate on November 16, besides just the satisfaction of supporting your favorite charity. Thanks to a number of generous donors, prize grants will be awarded to the top ten nonprofit organizations that receive the most donations during Give to the Max Day.
A number of Cook County organizations have issued a call to donate during this fundraiser, such as the Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency (AEOA). “Last year’s ‘Give to the Max Day’ not only provided additional funds to help those in great need, but also brought about greater awareness of needs in our communities not being met by traditional funding sources,” said Harlan Tardy, AEOA executive director. “The dollars raised help many families take the next step towards self-sufficiency and we look forward to helping many more this year.”
The Cook County Community Fund (CCCF) is another of the many local organizations listed on the “Give to the Max” website. CCCF Advisory Board Member Mary Petz also encourages people to consider giving to the community fund on this special day. “The many nonprofits of the area and the people they serve appreciate and thank you for your consideration and your sharing!” she said.
“We set single-day records for philanthropic giving in both 2009 and 2010 and want to keep that streak going in 2011,” said Dana Nelson, executive director of GiveMN.org, which debuted in fall 2009 as the first-of-its-kind giving website and sponsors Give to the Max Day. “This is a day for us to come together as Minnesotans and show our support for the nonprofit organizations that work tirelessly to improve our communities.”
During last year’s Give to the Max Day, more than 42,000 donors logged on to GiveMN.org. The result: more than $10 million raised for more than 3,400 Minnesota nonprofits, whose missions range from feeding the hungry to protecting the environment and promoting the arts. GiveMN.org hopes to again raise millions for thousands of nonprofits, showcasing Minnesota’s unparalleled generosity to the world.
At GiveMN, Minnesota nonprofits can showcase their work and introduce their organizations to potential donors. Customized profiles of Minnesota charities detail their individual missions, programs and events.
