Another candidate has announced that he is running against Congressman James Oberstar in the 2010 election. Darrel Trulson, of Chisago City, has announced his candidacy for the 8th Congressional District as a Republican candidate.
Trulson, a resident of Chisago City, was born and raised in North Branch, Minnesota.
After graduating from North Branch High School in 1978, Trulson moved to Illinois where he raised his family of six children and became active in local politics. There he was elected as a trustee in the city of Arlington Heights, a position he held for five years.
A graduate of both Moody Bible Institute and Trinity University, Trulson was an associate pastor in Wisconsin and later a teacher and school administrator for seven years.
He is now a businessman and owner of PenLine Productions, a graphic design company.
Trulson said the bulk of his company’s work has been in designing textbooks for school publishers. PenLine Productions clients include Prentice Hall, Pearson Education, Scott Foresman, and McDougal.
Trulson is also a writer who has authored over a dozen books, focusing on the Christian marketplace. He has written a family devotional series for Intervarsity Press.
Michael Cummins of Brook Park, also a Republican candidate, announced that he was running against Congressman Oberstar in October 2009.
