What do you get when you combine blues, roots, gospel, country and soul? A potent, richly layered mix that makes up the essence of Annie Mack.

The North Shore Music Association presents Annie Mack at 7:30 p.m. July 5 at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts. With a powerful voice, dynamic presence, and captivating storytelling ability, Annie Mack is a force to be reckoned with. Following in the footsteps of the Blues Women before her, she makes a genuine connection with her audience.

Annie Mack was born and raised in North Minneapolis. While her mother passed on the love and appreciation of music early on, Annie came to music later than some artists, urged by life experiences that made it clear her story needed to be told. Her debut CD is her life story set to music, and the different stylings she uses in the album are key to sharing that story. It was natural for her to use blues, gospel, soul, and country.

Having won first place in the “Road to Memphis” Challenge in St. Paul last year, the Annie Mack Band went on to represent Minnesota Blues Society at 2014 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, at which over 200 blues bands from all over the world competed.
