Anne Christiane Becker, 49, of Tofte died Saturday, February 2, 2019 at her home as a result of a pulmonary embolism.
Christiane was born on August 7, 1969 in Kendallville, Indiana. She graduated from East Noble High School in 1988. Following high school she attended Indiana Wesleyan University majoring in Psychology and later Auburn University where she studied Visual Art.
Christiane moved to the North Shore about 15 years ago. She had been associated with the Grand Marais Art Colony and worked for a time at Joyne’s Department Store. She was a member of Zoar Lutheran Church in Tofte where she volunteered with the Kids Bible Club.
Christiane was a talented potter, painter, textile artist and floral arranger. Over the past seven years Christiane struggled with cancer and other health concerns but all the while continued to spread love and hope to those who knew her.
Christiane was preceded in death by her grandparents, her stepmother, and her nephew Jacob. She is survived by her father Marion Becker, her mother Penny Sloane, her brothers Robert, Matthew, and Andrew Becker, six nephews and one niece, all of Indiana, and her longtime friend and partner Robert Revier of Tofte.
A celebration of Christiane’s life is being planned to be held at the Schroeder Town Park near Father Baraga’s Cross in June. Memorials may be sent to Zoar Lutheran Church for children’s ministry arts and crafts.
