TheLibrary Friends of Cook County will sponsor an evening with Ann Mershon on Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. in the Higher Education Building, 300 W. 3rd St., Grand Marais.
Ann’s presentation will include visuals and a discussion of her experiences and travels in Turkey.
This event is free and open to the public and refreshments will be served.
After 30 years teaching English, Ann retired from the Cook County public schools in 2005. She recently returned to Grand Marais after teaching for the past five years in Istanbul, Turkey.
Ann is a freelance writer and selfdescribed adventurer who has published numerous articles, newspaper columns and two books, Britta’s Journey, an
Emigration Saga
in 2004, and Istanbul’s
Bazaar District, Back-street Walking
Tours,
a travel guidebook, co-written with historian Edda Renker
Weissenbacher in 2009. Her next project will be a memoir about her time in Turkey. Ann was recently featured in the Minneapolis Star-Tribune
travel section in a story about the bazaar quarter in Istanbul.
