Anders Zimmer,
14, of Grand Marais, has been selected to once again compete for a spot on the U.S. Junior Olympic National team. At press time, Anders was heading to competition in Marquette, Michigan Feb. 17-20.
While at Marquette, Anders will be competing in slalom, giant slalom and the downhill. If he does well in Michigan, Anders will earn a spot on the team and then go on to compete in the Junior Olympics in Vail, Colo. from March 3-10. From there his goal is to compete in the Whistler Coupe, part of the North American games, to be held in Whistler, British Columbia, the site of the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Anders races in the USSA (United States Skiing Association) division in the J3 group where his races bring him throughout the states in the Midwest and Colorado.
Anders continues to race to achieve his dream of making the U.S. Ski Team and the Winter Olympics.
