American Legion Post 413 awards new enlistees

American Legion Post 413 recently instituted a policy of giving young men and women who enlist in the armed forces a check for $100, which was labeled as “enlistment appreciation.”

With less than one percent of the adult population representing the military in the country today, these young recruits represent a special place in the nation.

Post 413 appreciates the desire of these enlistees, along with the support of their parents to serve the nation.

Pictured with Commander Bob Mattson is Mike Burton, receiving the check alongside of his father Dennis Burton. Mike has enlisted in the Army National Guard as a heavy motor equipment technician.

“Mike,” from the members of Post 413 and the community, “thank you for your service, and good luck!”
