In July, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 413 unveiled a stunning Stars and Stripes quilt. The 70”x90” quilt handmade by Legion Member Nancy Backlund is being raffled to support the auxiliary’s many community activities.

The Legion Auxiliary hosts special luncheons for veterans on Memorial and Veterans Day, purchases gifts for veterans in the nursing home, contributes to activities for veterans at the Silver Bay Veterans Home and more. Last year the Legion conducted a very successful clothing drive for homeless veterans in the Twin Cities area.

In addition to supporting veterans, the Auxiliary donates money to the Cook County Food Shelf, the hospital, senior center and other local organizations.

By purchasing a ticket for this beautiful quilt, you not only have a chance to be nice and warm with a handmade quilt, you are helping support our veterans and the community.

Tickets are just $2 and can be purchased from several local businesses, at the American Legion Post or from Legion Auxiliary members. The drawing will be held at 3 p.m on Sunday, August 2.
