Recent Cook County High School graduate Alyssa Spry didn’t get to play softball this spring because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but that didn’t stop her from being named to the 2019-2020 Northern Indigenous All State Team (NIAST) as a catcher.
Alyssa was a three-sport athlete at CCHS. She was a starter on the volleyball team, captained the basketball team and played catcher on the girls’ softball team.
She was one of three girls named to the NIAST all-state softball team for the northern region.
In addition to winning all-conference honors, Alyssa was named the CCHS girls’ Senior Athlete of the Year and maintained a GPA of 3.8 or higher throughout high school.
NIAST recognizes outstanding Native American High School Athletes.
