High school seniors throughout northeastern and north central Minnesota who plan to major in math or science in college are encouraged to apply for a scholarship from the Marshall H. and Nellie Alworth Memorial Fund. Applications are now available and can be completed online at www. futurestakeflight.com. Theapplication period continues through Jan. 15, 2010.
To be considered for a scholarship, applicants must be graduating from a high school in Aitkin, Beltrami, Carlton, Cass, Clearwater, Cook, Crow Wing, Hubbard, Itasca, Kanabec, Koochiching, Lake, Lake of the Woods, Pine or St. Louis counties and have a composite score of 25 or higher on the American College Test (ACT). They must also commit to a major in a math- or science-related field, have demonstrated qualities of character, perseverance and ambition, and be from a family whose taxable income is less than $120,000.
