The Alpine Vikings continue to push through the January race circuit with continued success and outstanding individual and team performance results.

The team arrived for the Duluth Invitational back at Spirit Mountain on January 18 looking to settle some differences from a sluggish performance a week earlier. And they did.

The girls’ team was just nipped by Invitational host Duluth East for first place and settled with a respectable second place finish. Molly Rider took second place overall followed by Signe Larson in 5th and first-time top 10 finisher Megan Lehto in10th place. Rose Ingebrigtsen completed the team scoring with a 16th place finish.

Theboys landed two skiers in the top 10 for the first time this season. Colin Berglund finished 8th with teammate Karl Ingebrigtsen 9th. The boys had a fourth-place team place from a field of eight teams and 60 racers. Dexter Yoki and Joe Borud finished 19th and 31st respectively rounding out the team score. Having Dexter and Joe racetimes count for team score was a first for each racer.

The Cook County/Silver Bay Moose Mountain Invitational at Lutsen Mountains followed just four days later. Thegirls’ teamed climbed back to claim first place with stellar individual performances. Molly Rider and Signe Larson made it to the Champion’s Podium finishing first and third place respectively. Teammates Ali Boettcher (Silver Bay) and Rose Ingebrigtsen finished 10th and 12th—the third time this year where Rose’s score was counted for the team victory. Six teams and 42 racers fielded this elite race.

On the boys’ side, Anders Zimmer had a 4th place finish—his second top 5 performance of the season. Luke Fenwick finally had his break-out performance of the year. After a season filled with outstanding individual runs and missed opportunities to lace together two consecutive runs, he managed two flawless runs and finished 5th place overall. Team scoring followed with Colin Berglund 18th and Karl Ingebrigtsen, 19th.

The Alpine Vikings travel to Giants Ridge on January 28th for the last regular race of the season followed by the Section meet on Tuesday, February 2, also at Giants Ridge.
