The CCHS boys’ and girls’ alpine team traveled to Hibbing on January 19 and had a great meet against some strong competition that included Hibbing, Hermantown, Marshall, Virginia and Cloquet-Esko-Carlton.

The weather was cool and foggy with poor visibility and no wind.

Will Lamb led the boys to second place, and Reilly Wahlers led the girls’ to a third place finish.

“I pushed the kids hard to really throw down and take some more risk, this race would be our last look at Giants Ridge before sections,” said head coach Charles Lamb. “The season is going fast, and the competition is heating up,” he added.

Coach Lamb said, “Reilly Wahlers pulled off an amazing recovery in her first run and finished third. Sela Backstrom bobbled in her second run, losing precious time and placed eighth. Halle Lamb skied solid, finishing 11th and Elsa Lunde finished in 16th.

Madysen McKeever, Bianca Zimmer, Hazel Oberholtzer, Ella Sporn and Molly LaVigne rounded out our girls’ team.”

Having one of her best races yet, Halle Lamb finished in 11th place to help the girls’ team finish in third place at the Hibbing Invite.
