Once again only one member of the Cook County YMCA North Shore Rollers could attend the recent United States National Log Rolling Association (USLRA) tournament, held in Madison, Wisconsin, but Ali Duclos made the trip more than worthwhile when she placed first in the U-10 girls’ division at the Midwest Log Rolling Championships Saturday, June 25.

Ali is currently ranked third in the U-10 girls USLRA Super Series. Points are awarded by an athlete’s place in USLRA sanctioned meets. The more meets a log roller attends, the more points he or she acquires.

At the end of the year awards are given to athletes who finish in the top three spots in their age group at the November Indoor Nationals.

Two other North Shore Rollers, Alexis Plummer and Dominic Wilson are also ranked in the Super Series. Plummer is ranked 5th in the girls’ U-7 division and Wilson is ranked 10th in the boys’ U-13 bracket. If they are healthy, both will finish higher than their Super Series rankings at the upcoming World Championships held in late July in Hayward, Wisconsin.

Ali is the daughter of Steve and Silviya Duclos of Lutsen.
