A member of the North Shore Rollers for the last three years, Ali is a strong log roller who keeps getting better with each competition.

North Shore Roller Ali Duclos placed first in the U10 girls’ division of the Capitol Splash log rolling event held in Madison, Wisconsin on April 29.

On May 7 Duclos finished second in the Rusty Ankle tournament held in Lacrosse, Wisconsin.

Ali is currently ranked second in the United States Log Rollers Association (USLRA) Super Series. Points are accrued by how many meets you attend and the place you earn in the USLRA-sanctioned log rolling competitions. Super Series awards are presented in November to the top three people in each age category.

The next tournament coming up is the Lacrosse Open on June 17.

Ali trains twice a week at the Cook County YMCA with half a dozen teammates throughout much of the year. The big goal is to get ready for the Lumberjack World Championship in Hayward, Wisconsin on July 20-22. Last year North Shore Roller Paige Everson won the U13 girls’ world championship title. Duclos finished second at worlds.

Following worlds is the North Shore Rollers home meet; the Minnesota State Championships are held here in Grand Marais on Aug. 5 as part of the Fisherman’s Picnic activities.

Ali is the daughter of Sylviya and Steve Duclos of Lutsen.
