Albert W. “Buddy” Duhaime, 79, of Grand Portage died Thursday, December 29, 2011 in Grand Marais.

Buddy was born June 20, 1932 in Cloquet, and grew up and attended schools in Grand Portage. He was proud of his service in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He lived in Duluth and was employed as a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry until retiring in 1994. In October of 1995 he returned “home” to Grand Portage.

Buddy was a member of Holy Rosary Church, the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a proud member of the Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa.

He enjoyed metal detecting, fishing, flea markets, and visiting with family and friends.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Duhaime and Mary Jane (Rousseau) Hendrickson, and a brother Edward Duhaime.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; a daughter, Delayne Duhaime; a sister, Darlene LeGarde, and an aunt, Lorraine Wipson all of Grand Portage; his mother-in-law, Esther Wick of Duluth; and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
