Seventh-grader Adam Dorr has been reading historical textbooks for years.
In January 2015, he took the online qualifying test to compete in the regional finals of the National History Bee. At press time on March 18, Adam traveled to the Nova Classical Academy in St. Paul to compete for a chance to win the regional final History Bee and advance to the National Finals in Kentucky in May.
The National History Bee is a competition that challenges middle school and high school students on a wide range of historical topics. Students will be competing in a buzzer style competition to determine their knowledge of history.
There are 35 regional finals across the United States.
Adam has been preparing for his competition by taking practice tests on-line and reading anthologies of history in his spare time.
Adam is also preparing a project for National History Day competition in the website division. His topic is General Patton’s Leadership and Legacy.
Adam’s favorite historical time period is the Civil War. He has read the entire three volumes of The Civil War: A Narrative.
